Guatemala Service Projects
In our efforts to work with an organization that would be willing to help us find schools or libraries to which we could donate copies of The Blue Q: The World As I See It, we were fortunate to have discovered a new friend and partner.
After a brief introduction, we discovered that the Mission of The Blue Q aligns perfectly with the mission and goals of Guatemala Service Projects, a non-profit organization of volunteers who work tirelessly with community leaders in Guatemala to help provide some of your most urgent needs. From building libraries to providing educational resources for students, Guatemala Service Projects is an organization that has a direct impact on the lives of entire communities in Guatemala.
The Blue Q: Book Partnership Project
The Blue Q and Guatemala Service Projects have worked together since 2020, with a combined mission to support educational efforts in Guatemala. The partnership began with a donation of 100 copies of The Blue Q: The World As I See It, with the proceeds from the sale of each copy automatically designated for a specific project. The first project enabled us to raise funds to purchase educational and technological equipment to help build a computer lab for a school in Panimache Quinto Alto.
Over time, The Blue Q has supported various other projects, all of which served to benefit small communities in Guatemala. As such, our outreach methods and our partnership have evolved to include other avenues for fundraising, new challenges, and the addition of new components to each organization's mission.
We feel blessed to have discovered a partner who has the same passion for helping others. We envision an incredible potential to be involved in countless future projects, as long as we do so under the leadership of Jennifer Demar and her team of dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly to contribute to the lives of those who are unable to obtain much-needed resources.
Project 2: Here We Go!
December 2021: We successfully completed the first project to help raise funds for a computer lab in Panimache Quinto Alto, and now we are shifting our focus to a second project to raise funds for a school in Cantón Xabillaguach, in the municipality of Chichicastenango in the Quiche department.
Our goal is to sell no less than 50 copies of “The Blue Q: The World As I See It” to help provide a computer, printer, and TOMi education system to the local elementary school.
Pedals to Pages
When it comes to fulfilling the Mission of The Blue Q, we will do everything we can to help others. And once again, we have the honor and privilege of working with our friends at Guatemala Service Projects.
In an effort to create an event that incorporates literacy/education, fitness, and the environment, author Dennis Avelar completed a 50-mile bike ride for our first-ever Pedals to Pages fundraiser to help build an expansion to a school (and a new community educational center) in Panamiche Quinto Bajo, in Guatemala.
The event took place on Saturday, September 17, 2022.
For all who contributed or were a part of this event and fundraiser in any way, THANK YOU!! We look forward to partnering with our friends at Guatemala Service Projects in the near future for another fun event.
Project 1:
Mission Accomplished!
May 18, 2021: We are super excited to announce that the school at Panamiche Quinto Alto received a fully funded computer lab, including 10 Chromebooks, a laptop, a printer, and a RACHEL server. Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to this fundraiser! Here are photos of the equipment that was donated to the school.
June 25, 2021: We had the opportunity to visit the school in Panimache Quinto Alto, where your donations helped reach our goal (along with Guatemala Service Projects) of purchasing computer equipment for these students. The feeling of seeing the children and their parents was something unforgettable. Not only do they live in a beautiful place, but now they will have the opportunity to share and discover other beautiful parts of the world. We will never forget this opportunity, and we am very grateful to everyone who made this moment possible.
