Putnam County Library
Cookeville, Tennessee
Most libraries have a mission, and wherever there is an opportunity for us to join in their efforts to create lifelong learners for their communities, we want to be there to make every possible effort in achieving this goal. It is for this reason that we proudly announce that The Blue Q is now available as a part of the collection of the Putnam County Library System!
Located between the cities of Nashville and Knoxville, the micropolitan area of Cookeville values hard work, education, performance arts, and service to the greater whole. It is no wonder that this city within the “Volunteer State” opened their doors and welcomed The Blue Q, as our aligned missions will enable us to value and appreciate the diversity found in both the city itself as well as the pages of our story.
The Putnam County Library System has additional branches in Algood, Baxter, and Monterey, and we hope that the entire county will soon read The Blue Q and appreciate how the themes reflect many of the same values found within their communities.

It is so much more than this, but there is a brief description: The natural balance of the Earth is in danger. The Blue Q was purposely written to be enjoyed by readers of all ages. This book is intended for young adults, and we primarily recommend it for readers age 12 and up.

- How does the book’s availability at the Putnam County Library help the Mission of The Blue Q?
We did some research on Cookeville and Putnam County, Tennessee, and we discovered a thriving and growing community of Spanish speakers, which initially attracted our attention. We also saw that it is a college town, and by all means we found it even more fascinating. However, after a closer look, we learned that Putnam County celebrates its diversity. The Putnam County Library System encourages a myriad of diverse materials - that which represents the same diversity found within the community - to benefit the growing number of lifelong learners in the area. The city also appreciates culture through arts and expression, and any city that welcomes such distinct forms of inclusive work is certainly one where we hope to find a home. To be welcomed by this library, within this community, enables the Mission of The Blue Q to fly further and higher, and allows us to be part of an even greater goal aimed at improving the lives of thousands.
